Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ScoutLog.

Is ScoutLog really free?
Yes, completely free. No sign-ups, no subscriptions, no hidden fees. ScoutLog runs entirely in your browser with zero cost to you.
Where is my data stored?
All your routes and spots are stored in your browser's LocalStorage. Nothing goes to any server. Your data stays on your device, always.
Does it work offline?
The map tiles require an internet connection, but all your saved routes remain accessible. Once loaded, you can view and manage your logs offline.
How accurate is the distance calculation?
ScoutLog uses the Haversine formula, the same algorithm used by GPS devices. It calculates the great-circle distance between points, typically accurate within 0.1% for most routes.
Can I export my routes?
Export functionality is coming soon! We're working on GPX and KML export options to make your routes compatible with other mapping tools.
Will you track my location?
Never. We request your location only to center the map on load — and you can deny that. We have zero analytics, zero cookies, zero tracking. Your privacy matters.
